This academic year has seen the rolling out of our Character Education program-our focus being on helping students explore, develop and reflect upon their RESILIENCE, RESPECT, CURIOSITY and SUPPORTIVENESS. Character Education sessions run at the start of every PSHCE lesson and each one is based upon at least one of our school values. Sessions are designed to be interactive and fun, with emphasis on discussion, in addition to understanding the importance of being an excellent, rounded member of our school community.

@MWS
WE ARE:

We value learning and are reflective, enabling us to develop and prepare for the future.

We know the importance of persevering, understanding how this enables us to become independent and reach our aspirations in an ever-changing world.

We conduct ourselves responsibly and with integrity by being kind, fair and honest.

We encourage and empower each other by showing empathy, fostering collaboration, and valuing the achievements of all.
What our teachers have to say:
”9L have responded really well to Character Education. As a tutor, I love it. It allows us to think about who we are, our values and has helped us to come together as a supportive team. I am proud of 9L, particularly in this aspect of CE. We are supportive!'

”Giving students the opportunity to think about their own personal strengths and weaknesses, and allowing them to reflect on them has been fantastic! The conversations Character Ed has generated, is allowing me to get to know my tutor group better and pushing them to think about how we can develop our own resilience and kindness towards others. I love some many aspects of Character Education! It's getting me to think about all these things on a personal level as well.

What our students have to say:
”I like Character Education because we learn about the values. We should always be respectful because then people will be respectful to you!
‘I like Character Education because we talk about a lot of different things, like the values of the school. It helps me with my own problems when we talk about being resilient and we sometimes watch videos about when things go wrong or somebody is being bullied so knowing how to be resilient is really helpful.
